Poll Finds Students Disapprove of Name Change
The proposed name change may have unanimous support in the Board of Governors, but it doesn't on campus. An admittedly unscientific yet telling survey of students taken Friday afternoon shows that over 50% of the students currently attending NCSA do not approve of the pending name change.

UNC Board of Governors Votes to Approve Name Change
The UNC Board of Governors voted unanimously Friday morning to change NCSA's name to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. According to the Winston-Salem Journal, two governors made brief comments before the vote, although no opposition was raised at the meeting.

Before the name change is official, it must be approved by the North Carolina General Assembly on May 13. More information will follow shortly.

UNC Board of Governors to Vote on Name Change
The UNC Board of Governors committee on university governance voted unanimously thursday to recommend a name change for the NC School of the Arts to the UNC School of the Arts. The full Board of Governors will vote on the measure on Friday, May 9 at 9 AM in Chapel Hill. If approved, the measure will go before the NC General Assembly.

Board of Trustees Approves Name Change; Disagreement Over Proposal

The Board of Trustees last week approved a resolution to change the name of the School of the Arts by adding "University" to the beginning, making it "The University of North Carolina School of the Arts." The resolution is pending approval by the UNC Board of Governors and the NC General Assembly.
