6 days, 3 Academy Award Nominated Short Films and 2 Major Guest Artists. The RiverRun International Film Festival will celebrate its tenth anniversary in Winston-Salem from April 23rd through the 28th with an impressive repertoire of over 64 films.
Click to see a clip reel of films featured at this year's festival Celebrating its tenth anniversary, RiverRun continues to look ahead, “We feel that this year’s lineup, our best ever, once again raises the bar,” said Andrew Rodgers, executive Director of RiverRun, “and with the continued support of our audiences, volunteers, sponsors and supporters, we are confident that we can once again rise to the challenge!”
Leading the list of films is the highly anticipated “Son of Rambow”, a feature about an aspiring young filmmaker and the turmoil of making a film “I Met the Walrus”, an Academy Awards Nominated Short about a childhood meeting with John Lennon, and “Secrecy”, a documentary on the hidden world of government intelligence.
This year’s festival will also feature a screening of the silent film “Phantom of the Opera” with live music by the Alloy Orchestra, several films in Spanish from Mexico, Argentina and Spain, and a number of politically relevant films to coincide with the North Carolina primary, including “I.O.U.S.A”, a documentary about our national debt.
In addition to the films the festival will offer panel discussions with artists such as Bill Pullman and Pam Grier and two parties, the Tenth Anniversary Gala and the Jabberwocky Ball.
The events will take place all over Winston Salem including the NCSA Campus. The Stevens Center, The Garage, and NCSA’s ACE Theatre will house the festivities of RiverRun. At the end of the Festival, audience votes and judges decisions will crown the best and favorites from the festival.
RiverRun has provided numerous positions for volunteer work for both students and residents of Winston-Sale. Such work has lead to students personal one-on-one time with the filmmakers and guest artists at the festival. If you would like to volunteer, positions are still available.
